I started my own venture in clay 30 years ago and soon grew to be identified by my hand built whimsical pots. Today I am a Teaching Clay Artist and self proclaimed Claysmith, hand forming earthenware and stoneware into whatever it wants to be. Making beads from leftover clay scraps also began early on. Then my beads begged to be their own creative expressions and Clay-to-Wear bracelets, earrings and neckwear became part of my repertoire. I now offer an Earthenware clay class every Tuesday morning at Cheltenham Center for the Arts where participants can discover new clay and low-fire glaze techniques or work on their own individual projects; recently we’ve experimented with mat glazes which have the look of leather, built pots by pinching or using my pinch-strip method of construction and made fabulous cups, pots and boxes with pre-made templates. CLAY - I LOVE where it takes me…
