Fall 2025 Session: Exploring Color Mixing with Red, Yellow & Blue Dyes
Join us for a four-part journey into the art of natural dyeing using the three primary colors— Red (Cochineal), Yellow (Golden Rod), Blue (Iron Indigo Vat)—to unlock a full spectrum of hues through thoughtful color mixing and layering. In this hands-on mini-series, you’ll Learn how to prepare fabric using a mordant to ensure vibrant, lasting color. Explore immersion dyeing to build your color foundation. Experiment with resist dyeing techniques, including traditional Shibori and Soy Milk Paste, to create striking patterns. Overdye with indigo, to transform your work with deep blues. By the end of the series, you'll take home a hand-dyed silk scarf of your own design and 1.5 yards of naturally dyed fabric, ready to be turned into your own unique textile piece. Whether you’re new to natural dyeing or looking to deepen your practice, this workshop will equip you with foundational techniques and creative inspiration. Additional materials fee of $25 payable to the instructor.

Discover the vibrant world of natural dyes through an immersive series focused on three distinct techniques using cotton, silk, and paper. You will learn Botanical Printing / Bundle Dyeing (Class 1), Hapa-Zome: Flower Pounding (Class 2), Iron Indigo Vat & Shibori Resist (Class 3), Planning Your Natural Dye Garden (Final Class). See our website for more information about each technique. Cotton and silk fabrics, natural plant materials, and all dye supplies provided. No prior experience necessary—just bring your curiosity and creativity! Additional fee of $25 payable to the instructor for pressed dye flowers.
