Camp Programs

Thank you to all of the families and children who participated in camp this summer.  We had an excellent season!

Check here in April of 2012 for Early Camp Registration Specials.

Cheltenham Center for the Arts Camp mission is for each child to have a rich variety of art experiences. Every day campers will participate in 2-4 classes (half/full day) in drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramic art or theatre. Some projects will be completed in one day while others may build through several class sessions. Campers will be amazed to see what they can create in just two weeks!

Each session will be based upon a theme. In the past we've explored art from other countries, local animals and their habitats, even flight! Each session will include at least one special guest or program for extra fun.

PAINTING, DRAWING AND PRINTMAKING
Students experience a variety of materials while working on projects geared towards 2-D work. They learn about various painting media, drawing techniques, as well as printing processes such as embossing, stamping, monoprints and collagraphs.

CERAMICS, SCULPTURE, COLLAGE AND ASSEMBLAGE
Students use found objects, traditional art materials, paper maché and paint to create 3-Dimensional pieces. Students explore clay through pinch, coil and slab building to make anything from functional pottery to hand built sculpture.

THEATER
This aspect of the program is designed to get kids on their feet exploring acting techniques through games, improvisation and storytelling. They will have a chance to perform in our theatre on the final day of each session!

SWIM TRIPS TO CONKLIN POOL
Conklin Pool is a five-minute bus ride away, and provides supervised free swim for our summer campers. Each child is given a swim test to determine their ability level. The pool is life guarded and counselors are in each part of the pool to supervise. Please note that Conklin Pool does not allow floatation devices. Snacks and drinks for all the campers are provided by CCA to take to the pool.

SPECIAL PROGRAMS
Special programs such as guest musicians, storytellers or theater performances will take place on the first Friday of each session. An additional
special activity is planned for any Wednesdays that we don't go to the pool.
