Re.Collection on view through March 7th

On view: February 8, 2015 - March 7, 2015
Gallery Hours: M-F 10am -3pm

To celebrate the 75th Anniversary of Cheltenham Center for the Arts, Mamacita will celebrate its new CCA Affiliation with their first group solo exhibition titled Re.Collection. The artists will create works of art with memory as muse. From childhood memories, to aging and amnesia each artist will choose and represent the many fascinating forms, and delicate intricacies memory influences in their lives.

“What is a memory? The best that neuroscientists can do for the moment is this: A memory is a stored pattern of connections between neurons in the brain. There are about a hundred billion of those neurons, each of which can make perhaps 5,000 to 10,000 synaptic connections with other neurons, which makes a total of about five hundred trillion to a thousand trillion synapses in the average adult brain.” - Remember This, National Geographic, 2007

Individual works will coincide with a group art installation. The installation, to be displayed in the small gallery at CCA, will include an array of hundreds of memory specific items installed as a group collective memory– meant to convey the subtle shift of recollection over time.
