Amy WergelisArea artist and teacher. B.S. in Art Education, M.Ed in Special EducationAmy has been working with children as the art specialist for the past 10yrs and  is an accomplished drawing instructor. as well as teacher of beginning and intermediate painting and watercolors. She has been involved with area mosaic projects and has a painting hanging in Cheltenham High School.

Intro to Stage Combat (Age 13+))
Instructor: Dustin Karrat
Wednesday 6:30-8:30 pm, Class #: C-23 (8 class sessions)
Tuition:  $145 (Members: $130)
Students will be taught the fundamentals of unarmed stage combat. They will learn how to safely punch, kick, slap, push, fall, and pull hair in a theatrical context. We will also cover the use of intention and storytelling as part of a successful “fight.” Teamwork, respect, and SAFETY will be used when performing short, choreographed scenes with partners.
Dustin Karrat
Dustin is a Philadelphia-based theatre artist and graduate of Arcadia University. He has acted with People's Light and Threatre Co., Hedgerow Theatre, and Philadelphia Young Playwrights. He is a fight choreographer, and has been certified in all 8 weapon styles with the Society of American Fight Directors as well having over 15 years of martial arts experience . He is also the co-founder of Dark Star Theatre, a new company specializing in Czech style blacklight and puppetry.

Artist in Residence - Opening Reception
Cheltenham Center for the Arts will host its first annual Artists in Residence Show opening on Thursday, May 24, 2012 from 5pm-7pm and on view through June 15, 2012. Three resident artists will be displaying their work and installations; Colleen Hammond, painting, Patti Nelson, ceramics and Jennifer Hermann, metals.

Cheltenham Center for the Arts joins with Open Book and continues a new author reading and conversation series, Philly Writes!, Wednesday, May 9, 2012 from 7-8pm. Two authors will read from their novels and tackle family issues within The Bird House, by Kelly Simmons and The Winters in Bloom by Lisa Tucker. $10 adults/ $5 children.
