Starting with a simple object\, picture\, or song\, students will learn to utilize improvisation and playing skills to develop their own world to explore as a group. \; We will build characters based on voice work and physical choices to inhabit this world. \; Imagination and cooperation will be the skills we focus on cultivating as we create and play together!

Bailey Shaw
Bailey earned her BFA in Acting from Arcadia Universiity\, Bailey has been a member of the Cheltenham Center for the Arts staff for two years. \; She specializes in improv\, movement and laughter. \; Known to many of the camp students\, Bailey is also a very serious actor who is willing to share her knowledge with you. \; She is currently working on various theater projects in the greater Philadelphia area.

Dress for a mess and invent your own Lovespoon tradition for your Valentine this year! The creations will be ready to take home after the workshop. Registration is required\; class fee is $25.
Acting 101 (Ages 10-12)

This course will introduce students to the basic principles of Acting. Students will learn projection\, enunciation\, blocking\, and how to effectively express themselves honestly on stage. They will learn to analyze a section of script and develop a character based on those observations. We will develop an acting vernacular\, culminating in partnered scenes using age-appropriate texts.

Dustin is a Philadelphia based actor\, certified fight choreographer with the Society of American Fight Directors\, and teaching artist. \; He is also the co-founder of Dark Star Theatre\, a new company specializing in Czech style blacklight and puppetry.
Dustin has worked with People's Light and Theatre\, Hedgerow Theatre\, Azuka Theatre\, and Philadelphia Young Playwrights\,and the Cheltenham Center for the Arts Summer Art Camp program\, among others.

Kids will have an opportunity to work with a variety of different drawing mediums and styles. \; Have fun while learning real drawing skills!

Amy WergelisArea artist and teacher. B.S. in Art Education\, M.Ed in Special EducationAmy has \;been working with children as the art specialist for the past 10yrs and \; is an accomplished drawing instructor. as well as teacher of beginning and intermediate painting and watercolors. \;She has \;been involved with area mosaic projects and has a painting hanging in Cheltenham High School.
Children will participate in a story-drama. The teacher will introduce a contemporary or classic children’s story. Children will then use basic acting skills and improv techniques to become any character in the story\, then act it out with the rest of the class as an ensemble. Each week features a new story!

Intro to Stage Combat (Age 13+))

Wednesday 6\:30-8\:30 pm\, Class #\: C-23 (8 class sessions)

Students will be taught the fundamentals of unarmed stage combat. They will learn how to safely punch\, kick\, slap\, push\, fall\, and pull hair in a theatrical context. We will also cover the use of intention and storytelling as part of a successful “fight.” Teamwork\, respect\, and SAFETY will be used when performing short\, choreographed scenes with partners.

Dustin is a Philadelphia-based theatre artist and graduate of Arcadia University. He has acted with People's Light and Threatre Co.\, Hedgerow Theatre\, and Philadelphia Young Playwrights. He is a fight choreographer\, and has been certified in all 8 weapon styles with the Society of American Fight Directors as well having over 15 years of martial arts experience . He is also the co-founder of Dark Star Theatre\, a new company specializing in Czech style blacklight and puppetry.

Join moderator Michael Kreider from Vintage Imports as you learn about the grapes and vineyards that create the wine\, and then sample five wines with accompanying appropriate nibbles. The evening creates a dialogue among guests regarding the tastes and attitude of the wines and accompanying flavors that pair well and not so well together.

Creative Collage - Two Day Workshop\, Saturday\, February 25 &\; Sunday\, February 26\, 2-4pm. Collage is an immediate\, accessible and uncensored path to creativity. Artist in Residence\, Colleen Hammond will conduct this workshop in basic collage techniques with a focus on the elements of art &\; design. Registration Required -$75.
